Review: Living the Beatles Legend: The Untold Story of Mal Evans
Living the Beatles Legend: The Untold Story of Mal Evans by Kenneth Womack
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Mal’s presence is heavy in photos of The Beatles and most recently in the Get Back movie. If you have read books about The Beatles you know who Mal is and why he was important to the Liverpool lads. What you may not know until you read this book, is that life was glamorous, but not easy. This book is going to take you deep into the famous roadie’s life, deep. I 100% admit that I knew who Mal was, I could recognize him in photos, Help and knew exactly what his job for the lads was and knew about how he died, but I knew nothing about his life when he went home. Mal lived two lives, that of a guy deeply imbedded into a mayhem world and a guy married with children.
I am going to recommend this for any Beatles fan, but maybe not someone just looking for a bio to read, it is deep in the Beatles world. I very much enjoyed it.

Distressed Abbey Road
I wanted to make my dad Abbey Road for Father's day, but I wanted to make it in my way. Very distress, altered type of Abbey Road.
I started by painting the background in blocks of color to match the album cover. In the center, I mixed some shades of blue. On each side, I painted a patch of green to background the trees. And under the horizon line, there is a grey/silver mix to simulate the pavement.
Once all the paint was dry I added some blue paper to the blue and a few stamps. To the green, I added bunched up tissue paper. I adhered the tissue at the same time I was bunching it up and I used mod podge.
After that dried, I painted the tissue in many different shades of green and sprayed some Caribbean Sea Blue misting spray onto the blue sky.
To the pavement I dabbed on some browns, black, red and yellow. Once it was dry I added some red crosswalk strips. I missed this with many misting sprays.
The Beatles are hand cut from grungepaper, stamped with Close to My Hearts music note stamp. Distressed with Black Soot ink by Tim Holtz and sprayed with Golden Slumbers misting spray by Michelle's Musings.
I adhered The Beatles with dimensional foam and hot glue. Everything got a bit of Sterling Silver misting spray.

I feel fine
you know my name (look up the number) |
Today I decided to have a scrapbook day of my own. I was inspired because I am reading a book about the Beatles. About their creative process, about how they came from nothing and achieved it all (at least in the music world). I want to achieve so much in the creative world. I want to be a scrapbook artist! One who gets paid for her designs and people talk about her designs as they do someone like Tim Holtz or Theresa Collins.
With this Beatles story in my mind, I thought...mmmmm they got famous with their songs, maybe I could use their songs. Here is an attempt to use Beatles titles as the titles to my pages. All of these pages were done on 3 July 2011. The "you know my name (look up the number)" page was done for this week CR84FN challenge.
